Moons and Camels

Moons and Camels

The day after swimming with the whale sharks, we spent a long time in the car starting at 6:30am and ending at 6:30pm! During that car trip we really only stopped twice, first for lunch at a place near Karratha and a geocache called “Santas Backside” so we had to stop!!! The second stop was at Port Hedland. We saw ships coming in and one was called Port Treasure! We found a playground and saw more big ships come in with tug boats around it to guide it in to the dock. After 1000 kilometres we arrived at Sandfire Roadhouse. It was dark and eerie. When we had set up it was 7pm and decided it was time for dinner. We saw green tree frogs in the bathrooms and peacocks around the campsite, and there were lots of huge bugs.  In the morning, when we were driving out to Broome, the roadhouse had caps hanging on the roof! It was so funny! After 3 hours we arrived at our destination, Broome!! We set up in 38 degrees heat and were sweating by the end of it. While we were eating lunch our Uncle Tim arrived. He was here for work but he had a few spare hours so he came over to say hi! We played mini golf at the caravan parks golf course!! When he left we all jumped in the pool to cool down. It was so refreshing and cool! We then drove down to Mangrove Hotel for the staircase to the moon. We ordered chips and drinks. I taught Jonathon how to do a cartwheeel and a handstand. We then ordered our dinner. Jonathon and I got a margarita pizza each and dad and mum got a burger each. There was a didgeridoo player and the lights slowly turned off. The moon began to rise and it reflected off the mudflats of Roebuck Bay. It really was a beautiful sight. The next day we had a swim before breakfast. We then went down to the Main Street for a walk. After we saw a cafe and we got a drink. At 4 we went down to Cable Beach for a camel ride! It was really bumpy and our camel was so inquisitive, its head was on the lady’s knee in front of us. Today we waited for a bus to come and pick us up so we could go down to Cable Beach for some kayaking!!! We paddled around the rocks and saw a rock shaped like a kookaburra and another shaped like Australia. On the way back the kookaburra rock looked like a Gringots goblin from Harry Potter! When we got back we jumped in the pool and then had lunch. Tonight we are heading into the bush for a star gazing tour.
