A couple of weekends ago we went to an amazing place called jakemfarm.com.au where we were able to practice some off roading with the car. We didn't take the van because we are hoping we won't be taking it onto roads quite this rough. The day was so much fun, we let the tyres down to 18 PSI and Dave and I both had a turn at driving or out of the vehicle directing; the kids were abit hesitant about the steeper patches but we wanted them to experience some 4WDing in what we considered a safe zone first ie there were experienced people around to tow us out if we got into trouble (which we didn't). It reassured us that the car we bought is awesome and totally up for what is to come in just 3.5 weeks - and counting! We are so excited!
